Review/approve 10/6/07 Meeting Summary The Meeting Summary was not formally reviewed at the meeting. No written comments were received, so they were posted on the web site as written.
Concerns from the Audience No one was present.
Complete Vision Statement The Committee used the “Summary of Small Group Input” and the “1985 Updated Goals, Policies and Plan Concepts” as a framework for their discussions. Using the 1985 Goals, Policies and Planning Concepts The Committee discussed residential, single family home density for the Township. This included the Clifton area, the Township as a whole, SW corner and interior parcels. Concepts 1-3, 7 & 8 were reviewed for changes that might be necessary. Complete agreement was not reached on all of the above areas and will have to be revisited at the next meeting. Discussion points for each area are listed below areas that are in italics indicate agreement was not reached. Clifton area (Concept 1): · Emphasize that Clifton is a rural area. · Moderate not high density as listed (200’ frontage, 1-2 acre lots). · Any development activities must have minimum impact on Lake Superior. · There are 3 existing businesses that serve the local residents and the travelers along Highway 61. Any modifications to the existing structures and/or new development should have input from the residents of the area and should be compatible with the rural lifestyle of the Clifton area. · Agreement was not reached on the extent of commercial development in the existing LSO zone. The majority of he Committee preferred to keep Clifton residential and have no new expansion of commercial development. A minority viewpoint was to have limited expansion of commercial in areas that site conditions allow and the Lake protected (this is currently allowed in the Zoning Ordinance). Township as a whole (Concept 3) · Agreement was not reached on the concept 3. The majority of the Committee wanted to leave concept 3 as written. A minority viewpoint wanted to omit “along publicly maintained roads” and reduce the “300’ lot width in the definition of low density which would allow for increased density in interior parcels. · Agreement was reached that overall low density with 4.5 or greater lot size should be maintained in the Township. Interior parcels (Concept 3 & 7) · Two viewpoints were discussed. The majority favored no change in the current situation. The minority viewpoint would like to have the opportunity to access and subdivide interior parcels as site conditions permit. SW corner (Concept 2) · The Committee did not have time to discuss this.
