Review and Approve minutes from January 8, 2008Following are the corrections to the vision for Concept Area 2 approved by the Committee:
“Concept Area 2 in the southwest corner of Lakewood
Township continues to provide opportunities for semi-rural residential
development with mixed lot sizes.
Reflecting the above changes, the agreed upon vision for Concept Are 2 as follows:
“Concept Area 2 in the southwest corner of Lakewood Township continues to provide opportunities for semi-rural residential development with mixed lot sizes. The area has experienced some growth. The growth and density increase in this area continue to reflect the existing minimum lot size and road frontage requirements as well as the capacity of the land to provide for waste water systems and fiscally responsible access.”
Concept Area 4
The small approximate 1/3 acre parcel west of the school was added to Concept Area 4.

The Lakewood School continues to house an award winning school and serves as an educational center for all its citizens, a product of the Town’s commitment to the value of education and the importance of a community school.

Reflecting the above changes, the agreed upon vision for Concept Are 4 as follows:
“The Community Center is active, vibrant, and reflects the heritage and culture of the Town’s past while looking forward to the future in meeting the community’s needs. Young and old alike find a place in the civic center.
The Community Center serves as a gathering spot for the community and is at the heart of active participation by its citizens in creating a thriving, civically engaged community.
The Lakewood School continues to house an award winning school and serves as an educational center for all its citizens, a product of the Town’s commitment to the value of education and the importance of a community school.
The Community Center continues to reflect an active Town Square where it provides opportunities for citizens to come together and celebrate holidays, special events, and other community celebrations. The Community Center also provides opportunities for youth recreation, hiking and the enjoyment of green space.
The facilities in the Community Center have been well maintained and new construction is accessible, sustainably built and has responded to the needs and desires of its citizens over time.”
Concept Area 3
Discussion continued on Concept Area 3. Brennan Mears, Zoning Administrator for the Town presented information to the Committee on how subdivision of interior parcels is handled.
The group was asked if there was a consensus on continuing the vision for Concept Are 3 as detailed in the 1985 Comprehensive Plan. Consensus was not achieved, as four people could not live with that proposal.
The Committee was asked if they wish to pursue seeking consensus on Concept Area 3 or to have the Town Board make the decision. After discussion, the Committee agreed to spend 45 minutes at the February 12th meeting to try to come to a consensus.
In addition, the Committee was asked what additional data would help in their decision-making Following is a list: ¡ Increase in driveways? Effects on public safety on roads; effects on environment ¡ Infrastructure – Effects on Utilities ¡ Effects on Public Services such as fire protection and First Responders ¡ Effects on aquifers ¡ Effects on watersheds including impervious surfaces and streams ¡ Effects on wetlands
